Looking at my Jefferson Dansco last night, I noticed the 1964 coin was unusually ratty. So at the coin shop today, I bought a replacement. So I got home and swapped it out, then I noticed the old coin was not only ratty, it was really a 1964-D. So while I THOUGHT my set was complete long ago, it is REALLY complete (up-to-date) today!
Rest in Peace

As many 64s as they made, it shouldn't be difficult to find a ms one.

Well done ... sometimes we just need to slow down and evaluate what we have.

As I was reading this, I kept thinking of myself. When I transfered my collection from a folder, I went to put in my '63D but it turns out that it was a '64D!

So glad you got that sorted out!

Reminds me of the time I discovered my 1976-D Variety I Eisenhower dollar was actually a 1976 Variety I.

I did the same thing on Mercs. I filled the set accept for the 16d when I was in my teens. A year or so ago I finally got a Dansco to put them in and realized three were wrong. Luckily they were common so it didn't hurt to much but silver was still a lot higher than in the 80's.

As you can see your not the only one that messes up on those dates and mint marks. Don't know how many times I've gone to replace a coin with a better one in an Album and found it was not what it should have been. I always suspect Ghost or Gremlins or somthing like those sneaking into my Albums and switching coins just to irritate me. Sure couldn't be me making mistakes.

At least you guys have a valid excuse, with the mint mark "hidden" on the reverse.

My Eisenhower dollars have them on the front.
