I've come across a few IHCs that appear to have doubling on the top of the shield on the reverse. In fact, I've seen this "doubling" in pictures in Snow's book. However, it was never the object... rather doubled lines in the shield, touching denticles, etc.

So I'm assuming that the top of the shield on the IHCs were often machine doubled? Am I crazy or does someone else know what I'm talkin' about?

I think a few DDRs show up in the shield area. It would be a matter of seeing pictures of the coin in question.

Photos to check your specimens out are needed. Longacre copper designs have a lot of recutting on letters and other parts of design, more so it seems than other series.
