Have you guys seen a fake error dime/cent like this? Not to sure why someone would do this... Clearly they shaved a cent down to a dime and then shaved the thickness so when they are glued together the final coin wont be to thick. It weighs 1.97 grams.

This was not found in a bank roll, it was found in a jar of cents my father inlaw had sitting around for 20 years.

I've never come across something like this before, but I must admit it's quite a spiffy find. :-)

Some effort must have gone into making it (unless by some chance it was a gag novelty produced en masse that I am not aware of).

Yeah, I've never seen two coins shaved down and stamped together like that.

It's not an attempt at a fake, it's a Magicians coin. COOL FIND!

BadThad nailed it. The rest of the trick is the obverse of a cent hollowed out. The dime and obverse are shown (why the reverse is tooled down) and squeezed together while handing it to the viewer. When he opens his hand, the dime has "disappeared".

Interesting... were these produced by some magic supply company or are they hand made by a magician for there own use?

These were made by a magic supply house
and sold. I remember seeing them for sale.
