Just found this in a roll from the $100 brick my wife got me for Christmas.

Lousy condition to not have been pulled before. Great Cud, tho. Appears to be broken off in stages.

With such a large Cud,shouldn't the reverse be more weak in that area?

The weakness would be where STATES is located on the bottom of the reverse and I am not seeing it. The damage makes it harder to tell. I think it looks like a valid Cud

Do you think a light cleaning on the reverse would do any good/harm?

Here is a closeup of the area on the reverse after a 5 minute soak in acetone. Notice that most of the bottom part of UNITED, and the entire word STATES, are missing.

Here is the full size photo.

Ive seen large dated Cuds like that go for as much as $50, though the damage on the reverse will decrease the value quite a bit.

Great find ... agree this is a true Cud ... the damage on the coin is distracting ... but does not minimize the nature of this worn out die producing such a fine error coin.

Thanks for sharing.
