Hi,
I am new to the form. Found these pennies in circulation from my father-in-law's penny jars. Just wondering if they are all 1999 Close AM. Secondly, if they are, where do people go online to sell them? I have no idea their value nor what they should be rated in terms of quality. Any and all help would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

Sincerely,
Matt

The area in question (AM ERICA- or AMERICA) is too small to tell from the images. The area of the AME enlarged would help most.

Note the location of the M. If centered, it is the wide A M. Off center to the left, it is the Close AM. Hope this helps.

I can't get my digital camera to take a closer picture without getting extremely blurry. I have a 8 megapixel camera. How do you get a closer picture? I have tried a couple of different settings even the icon for close up images. I feel really stupid posting this. I am usually pretty good with technology.

Also you want to look for the Wide AM. The 1999 Close AM is the normal design.

Wait a minute. According to Wikipedia, 1999 Close AM is rare. Is it the other way around?

The valuable " Close AM" 1999 is the S-mint Proof. The "Close" die was the standard for business strikes from Philadelphia and Denver. The San Francisco Proof used the " Wide AM" die.

So what you want is a "Close" Proof or a "Wide" business strike. Both are known, and both are rare.
