I sent for their free catalog and with it they sent all these coins, and they say if you want to keep them to sent the money for them, but if not you should send them back. What is up with this? Do they really expect when they send people the coins do they really expect everyone to send them back or send them the money. Something just seems weird about sending coins that were never asked for to begin with and then expecting them back or money for them.

any one else have this happen?

I remember when I was young, receiving a murcery dime or something in the mail and they wanted me to send them money or send it back...I thought it was a stinkin thing to do, so I kept the coin. but I always felt a tad guilty. I think its alot to ask though...

Littleton Coin Company does the same thing, and so does the Mystic Stamp Company.

They offer something free or very cheap, and shortly after you get whatever it is, you'll get some items "on approval." The prices are always outrageous. At least the first time they will include an envelope to return them at their expense, but subsequent times they might not.

What I have done (after kicking myself for getting suckered into it in the first place ) is send it all back in their post-paid envelope along with their invoice upon which I have written in large, dark letters, "Do not send me anything else. I will not return it and I will not pay for it."

I've never heard from them again.

I ordered a catalog from Littleton some years ago - JUST a catalog. That's all I wanted 'cause I was looking for prices on different albums and supplies. I got a catalog alright ... along with a handful of "garbage" coins with outrageous price tags on 'em. This "coins on approval" junk amazes me. Anyway, I sent the whole lot back to them including the catalog and a nasty note telling them to take me off their list, and informing them I would never buy anything from them.

yeah thats exactly what they did, but it sounds crazy that they would send the items out with out any form or guarantee of money or the items back. but yeah the prices on the coins are crazy and are no where near the grade they say they are.
