Just curious, what are most of you finding the 20th anniversary set going for at your local stores? Were you lucky enough to pick one up at the $100 price? And do you see this set as a good long term investment?

I was a lucky one and got it from the mint. I will keep mine in the original package. A lot of people are sending them in to be graded. I think it will be a good investment as well. Now I wish I would of bought 3 or 4 but I just could not afford it at the time.

I received the 10 sets I ordered, two 4 set boxes and one 2 set box. I am still trying to decide what to do with them. If I get them all graded, it will cost $450!! That's a lot of money, but it could well be worth it based on what graded sets are selling for now.

Guido, if you're having that much trouble deciding, you are more than welcome to send some of the sets to me and I will figure out what to do with them......lololol. I was on the waiting list and got squashed. That being said, IMHO, and this will differ greatly from others I'm sure, but I think I would pay to have at least 4 or 8 graded. if this is an investment for future resale, I don't think you can go wrong. While the pricing may come down a little in the future, the fact remains that there just weren't that many of these made, and even less will be graded as a complete set. That way you can keep at least two to look at. The kicker will be if the two that you keep are the 70's of the group.....Like I said, I'm sure others think opposite, but I think having them graded will be the same as getting these at mint pricing. Very cheap compared to the overall value that you can recognize.

I was lucky to get 2 sets from the mint. I haven't decided what to do with them yet, so I did not open them up. I have been following them on E-bay. The sets that are opened up are going for around $200.00, while the sets that are unopened are being sold for up to $265.00. When it comes to graded sets I have seen a PCGS 70 set go for over $1,000.00, I'm not sure that was worth it since the mint produced 250,000 sets.

Dog Man, These are beautiful sets and are worth buying if the price is close to $100.00 Typically these type of sets have not been a good investments. Many of the proof and mint sets from previous years can now be bought for 25% to 33% of what they originally went for. The mint also produced a quarter of a million of these sets, which does not make them a limited edition. I hope they keep their value as they are a great commemorative and worth every penny of their asking price.

I only bought one (ordered via internet the first day they went on sale), and I have been kicking myself ever since. I wanted it basically as a remembrance for a 20th anniversary of my own that I celebrated in 2006. Never occurred to me that they would skyrocket in price like that. Wish I'd bought ten.

My wife and I each bought one. Our daughter bought three -- one for her and one for each of her two kids. Our oldest son bought 10, and has stored them away in a safety deposit box. He says he will keep several in the family as part of collections, and will decide on the others sometime in the future.

Like everyone else who bought only one set from the mint I am kicking myself. I opened mine because I wanted to look at & enjoy the set. Why would I not open them? I won't send them to get slabbed. They will remain in the Mints containers & my collection until my sons inherit them.

LOL!!! Why am I not surprised to receive such an offer? HAHAHAHA. Thanks for that one. I will probably send 8 in for grading, maybe even all 10. I have gone back and forth, but I have other coins that need to be graded so I will probably do all of them at the same time. Silver Dollar, I think the reverse proof will allow these sets to retain their value, verses other proof sets of the same mintage numbers. But, only time will tell, right?

I ordered two sets and opened both. Since I am keeping these for "me" I see no reason to send them for grading. I think they are stunning just the way they are.
Does anyone know if the mint will produce a reverse proof for 2007?
