My father brought these notes back from the war and I've had them in a scrapbook for decades. I have been looking at the forum and found some pre-Japanese occupation Chinese notes that he had as well, which are pretty common.
I have not see these two Japanese notes (I take it they are Japanese because of Mt. Fuji on the one). The other is in French I think. I may be a script or something like that?
The first notes are about 2.5" x 4" (6.5cm x 10.5cm)and the French note just under 3" x 4.25" (7.3cm x 11.1cm).
I would love to find out about these notes to pass it on to my kids. Thanks much!

I figured the Japanese currency was pretty common. So that is New Caledonian? Interesting. Thanks

Wow, nice notes, and perhaps some interesting stories that went with these notes. No one in my immediate family served in WW2 due to one Grandfather being too important to fight, an electrician, and the other was due to go to the far east but the war stopped and he ended up in Palestine.

Bacchus2 you get around! The New Caledonian is probably no better than VG because of the fold and stains. But more importantly you guys gave me clues to its origin. My father served for 20 years in the US Navy. He saw action in the North Atlantic and in the South Seas. He was on the Missouri during the Korean conflict and yes he had many, many great stories to tell. He's been gone now for about 22 years and I wanted to pass these and other notes, to my grandchildren, along with other momento's that I have from him. Thanks to all!
