Geez I really feel bad for that guy, that is an incredible collection. It will be hard to find the raw coins, but one would think that the 1843 proofs, and the earlier ones.

A lot. The first Dollar alone was a six-figure coin.

What do the thieves think they can do? Some of these coins are rare enough to where it would be a bit difficult to get rid of them. I really can not see a collector robbing these.

Unless the theives were doing it on a collectors behalf. Hmmm
How long until the first one shows up?

This is terrible.... hopefully they are able to catch whoever is responsible for this and recover the coins. I agree with other posters that many of the coins appear like they will be hard to sell because of their rarity.

This is a very sad situation, however it is reality. We should all keep our valuables in something very secure. However on the other hand it is not right that people are not safe to take their coins to sahows, club meetings and the what not to show off collections and mingle with other collectors. What does this mean that if you have a very valuable collection you cant take it out of the safe or bank and not be able to enjoy it? This is not fair and I hope someone is held liable. I also hope that the person who lost these is somehow compensated through insurance. He or she will probably never have any of the prized possesions back. That is the worst part about this story.

That's okay Richard. We can leave it in both places. I want to be sure that it's seen.
