ok I'm still a newb to this hobby/investment/wayofsavingabobor2ormakingasmall/largeprofit What are the coins to be buying or looking for this year? Not that I can afford them, but for the big $$ coins and notes, to the low $$ release coins and notes for those of us on low incomes.
last week for example we brought the triplezero coin and a 20c pnc for under $20. but would I have been better of buying one of the rolls for around the same cost?
my goal for this year is to try and get a 1oz silver proof coin, but which one?
i would also like to pick up a small gold coin, but again which one or type would be the best choice for a small budget?
hope you all dont mind me asking to share your knowledge of this stuff

If you are looking for something solid and safe then you can't go past a 2012 Uncirculated 6 coin set. They hold their value and they are a nice set of coins too.

NCLT & sets usually take a long time to appreciate.
On a small budget, you're better off noodling.

peter, over the year I would like to keep the budget for coins to around $300-500 which is pretty much my pocket money. our noodle money is just taken of the top of the budget each week as it is mostly returned every few days for more, and therefore can be put back into the budget with no problems.
and thanks for the tip.

from lastest RAM Issue, I would say 2012 50c UNC Diamond Jubilee (I believe this is last Jubilee for our Queen) and 2012 Official Aus. Open 100th Men's Champion $5 UNC Coin (It will be recognised by all tennis fans around world because it is Aus Open and 100th Men's Champion)

Well there was the gold kangaroo coin that was a good buy if you had the money -- was a sell-out in 14 days. (This product is always a sell-out item)
And the other buy for 2012 was the Remembrance Day special red foil release -- sell out one the first day.
But these items are something that you really have to be on the ball to get them.
So not everyone will be able to get them. poop

For the average Joe, like me I will be sticking with the wheat "threepence" coins.
And I will try to collect the whole set of Counterstamp coins during the year.

And I will be getting one of the 50c purple queen credit card coins just to add to the pile of junk that I buy into, already have the other credit card royal 50c coins MUST COMPLETE SET, will they be worth anything in the future, might be a few dollars value in it, unfortunately they make an unlimited mintage of them during the promotional period.

I also like the coloured 50c in the mint set; it's so unique that in the future it can only increase in value.

we did buy the 2012 pnc with the coloured 50c, really nice looking coins in the flesh, so to speak, but the emu's colour does not seem to be 100% right to me, I will be going back and checking another set to see if its the same. also asked the girl to check the safe for any remembrance coins that might still be there, no luck :( lol didnt expect it anyway.

I prefer the blinky bill 6 coin sets, they seem to increase in value quicker then the standard 2012 6 coin set although I buy both :)

i have noticed the strange prices of those on ebay, but for the life of me I cannot get past the idea that they are a novelty coin. and I know they are not novelty's. same with the pad print bird coins, I like them but they seem like a novelty so I havnt brought any.

I just bought the 2012 50c Jubilee proof and credit card unc. and got 5 wheat stamped dollars (3 of which are being posted to fellow members) and the 2011 Kangaroo at sunset, which only cost me 65 and catalog apparently says is 120 already.

Hi, just realised I type 2012 instead of 2011 for the Remembrance Day PNC, but I am sure all you cleaver cookies would have figured it out :)

I haven't seen the colour 50c in a PNC, can you show pics
