I'm not really a coin collector, but I have a few older coins, and I was wondering if anyone has any information about them? I'm especially interested in the history aspect, but the relative value is interesting, as well. I've uploaded some pictures to the internet, so here are the links:

This first one is not in the best shape, but it's a Carolus IIII Spanish coin, I believe the date is 1727, but it could be 1737, as it's rather rubbed.

The next one is an 1874 2 Franc piece. It's in better condtition than the first. The bottom word says "Helvetia"

The next is a 1 Franc piece from sometime during WWII. The picture is a fair bit blurry because the coin is made out of an odd light and really shiny material that my camera just refused to pick up properly.

The next is a 25 centime piece from 1929. It's got a hole in the middle. Does anyone know the purpose of that?

The last is a 10 centime piece from 1923. It's got the same hole, and is in much the same condition as the previous coin.

Thanks for taking a look at these for me...I really appreciate it!

Your first one is Spanish colonial, I think it's a 1 real, Mexico City mint. Charles IV of Spain ruled 1789-1808, so I'd guess the date is more like 1797. 1797 Mexico City 1 real coins catalogue at $5 in low grades.

Coin number 2 is Swiss; "Helvetia" is the Latin name for Switzerland. Swiss coins basically haven't changed design since your coin was issued; Here's a forum thread with a modern half-franc of the same design. Your one is pretty worn; catalogue says $4 or so.

Coin number 3 is from the Nazi puppet state of Vichy France. It's made of aluminium (you can spell it "aluminum" if you like). Common enough; catalogues at 50¢ to $1 in that condition.

Coins number 4 and 5 are from pre-war France. Coins from some countries are "holed" because the locals don't have pockets; I don't think that's the reason for these French coins, though. It's probably more to do with making sure no-one confuses them with the silver coins which were about the same size. Worth about 50¢ each.

(edited for clarity of thought - also known as grammar correction)
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
