How can you go wrong buying a coin that has been graded say from PCGS.

If the price is good the grading service cost alone would make it a good deal.

if you want a closet full of worthless coins in plastic holders that you paid 200 or 300% of FMV, then employ your strategy. You can find plenty of these types of coins on ebay. Your typical modern proof is a PR-69. Do you want to pay $7 or $8 for once just because its in a holder? That answer may be yes for future protection- or no based on your preference.

there is much more to collecting than the grade on a holder. Not all MS-65s are the same, for instance... Some are from earlier die states, some have stronger strikes, some have better luster, some have better toning, some have unattributated varieties, some have flaws that you can't get past.

I'd say a PCGS or NGC holder is a good bullet point, but it's not the whole story. Typically, a seller with a good history, knowledge, and a fair return policy is your best bet.
