I was very pleased to get a few paper $1 notes from a bank recently.
Brought back some nice memories.

Yes they certainly bring back memories of when I was growing up. I've still got a Coombs Wilson $1 that I pulled from circulation in about 1980. I knew it was different because it had "Commonwealth of Australia" at the top. At the time I had no idea about signature combinations or I would have been busy noodling my pocket money for a Coombs Randell.

It is nice to get them out every now and then and remember that they were quite a subsantial amount of money in their day.
Crikey 5 of these could fill up my tank in the old HD Holden, Now $5 will get you just over 3
litres of petrol
Funny thing is find the right one of these and you can buy a new car with it

A nice note but the 1988 $10 note is still the best looking decimal note in my opinion.

I think you are refering to the first polymer/Gladwrap note, It is a great design but it is made out of plastic
What on earth was wrong with our paper money?
I used to love the smell of the nice crisp notes in my paypacket, Now all we get is an email with our earnings direct deposited into the bank account.
I get the old notes out every now and then so "I can remember the smell of real money".
If you can't remember it you won't understand, but a few of us old buggers can

I miss the old paper money too. Maybe I'm showing my age but it seemed to have a lot more character than todays money. My personal favorite was the paper $20 note. It had such detailed design and represented SO much money back then.

These day's many people dont even see cash as they pay for everything by card for frequent flyer points

It reminds me of the smell a crisp brand new $1 dollar note had.....can't get that with plastic notes or a $1 coin. Pulled a brand new $50 plastic note from ATM the other day and it smelt like s@#t.
