It is the year 2000 P that has the value and not the 2001..

There were only 46 Million made, it's a semi key.

I guess what's rare is if you can get someone to give you 600 dollars for a coin that sells for (in theory) 10 dollars slabbed with a sales feedback of zero. How rare is that?

The 2001P is scarce (Somewhat). The year of volunteers coins has a high mintage. Check the trend.
