Block Set Of Banknotes? Explain Please

What is a "block set" and can you post some completed block sets on here to see? (when I google it, it comes up with the bills housed in plastic and I know that is not what is being talked about). From what I can gather, the letters are the important thing. Years ago, all I knew people would do is play poker with the serial numbers. Gonna have to check into this further. Sounds interesting.
