I bought my first silver last recently too. It's kinda exciting - then I bought a little more this week...when silver was up. I see it's down today. I'm doing the same thing - going to buy an oz or two a week. Hopefully the ups and downs will average out.

I think $33 for the Mercury round was a fair buy 10% over spot not to bad. $25 for the Peace dollar coin with over 3/4 oz of silver was your best purchase. If you can find more at that price I would jump on it. I bought my first ASE and when I received it, I was hooked on accumulating them. Just a piece of advice, try to buy your 1 or 2 oz. a week from members of this forum. You'll find you will get a much better deal than what you can find at ebay. The premiums there are down right crazy. So crazy I have given up buying from that auction site. When you buy, do some research. Make the most out of the hard earned money you'll be using to fund your acquisitions. have that cash go as far as it can. IMHO, try purchasing %90 US junk silver(halves, quarters, dimes), you get a lot more for your money.

Now that I work at the coin shop and held a hand full of lousy fakes an mistake COPY coin buys, it is so noticable the difference. Not saying yours there are fake, I don't think they are. Even though it is a weee bit paculiar that the word liberty across the top of the proof looks like it is fading or rubbing out....

Get a scale an magnet. Being new to silver an coins, best advice I figure you will get thus far. If it sticks like glue tight, FAKE. You may get light attraction on 40% to 90%, but that does not mean it is fake. You can rub the silver on a rock small tiny section, (minimal damage) an add 18K acid, an if it turns blue, I think you are good....

Knowin how to spot a fake will save you much heart ache, and that is a fact.....

Thursday I got another 1922d Peace dollar for $25. Also found a ASE for $32.50. That was when silver was right at $30
