Let me begin by saying thx to everyone's knowledge in which I lack but hopefully in time I can also be knowledgable. I have a few coins but thought I'd like to gradually accumulate silver rounds or bars. So I popped on this round yesterday for $33. The Peace dollar was at a pawn shop for $25 so I went ahead and grabbed that too. I know it may not be a big deal to y'all but I'm pretty proud of it.

I thought I knew a lot when I first started coming onto this site, that thought ended quickly. I've learned more in the last year from reading these forums then any book. IMO, the silver round was a little over priced, you can get an ASE for around the same price. Nice grab on the 1922 though. You should be proud of the pick up, everyone has to start somewhere. No better place to start than with a Peace dollar.

Well any advice is much appreciated. Yesterday when I was going around to pawn shops and they were selling ASEs for $60-$80. I don't quiete understand this because I can get on Provident and buy a 2012 ASE for $33. Granted the others were previous dates but I still don't get it.

They were Proofs, which yield a very high premium.

Good job. Silver is so beautiful that even if you don't end up making a lot of money on them they are still nice to look at. If everyone in the world bought a few ounces of silver the price would skyrocket. I don't think that there is nearly enough in existance for everyone to own one. It's a fun hobby and potentially very profitable.
If you put $20,000 in the bank you're lucky to make $50 in interest in a year these days. You could potentially make $30 in a year on your $33 investment. Keep acquiring and I think that you'll be happy.

Hello, PigsRFlying, and to the CCF forum! Everyone here started out at some point in your same position. We didn't know as much about precious metals as we wanted but we knew that we wanted to collect some. This is a great place to share experiences, ask questions, and get real answers. Thanks for posting the pics of your recent purchases. I have some Peace dollars too and remember a time when they were still in common circulation as money... in the early 1960s. Having them brings back some great memories. I also like the Morgan dollar design and have quite a few of them. Their historic character is great and I can just imagine that some cowboy, miner, or other western character once used the same coins that I have to do some business. Yeah, that's probably a long shot but, hey... it COULD have happened!

I'm planning on buying an oz or 1/2 oz a week. I work out of town all the time so I'm thinking about selling my house. Instead of putting that money in the bank I'm thinking of investing that money in gold or silver.
