Just wondering where you ASE collectors buy your ASE's? I have been looking at Provident, sold out, Silvertowne, $38.00 each and that doesn't include shipping. My local coin store is at $40.00 each. Maybe its me but that seems high. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Check to see if there are any local coin shows in your area. I am fortunate enough to have a coin show about once a month within 20 miles of my house. I do most of my purchasing at these shows.

Check out the "We Buy Gold & Silver" stores as they usually buy at melt or less and sell for a little over. Catch one loaded with inventory and you can get a deal.

At the local "We buy gold/silver" shop. Today I picked up a 2007 ASE $2.50 over spot. I have a fair amount of Morgan & Peace dollars but just recently found this section of the forum & became interested in the different varieties of silver rounds & bars. Have bought kookaburras, pandas, britannias, libertads, etc. He sells me common dates usually $3-4 over. For the more expensive dates it is grey sheet bid. It saves him shipping & keeps his cash flowing.

I get a few ASEs from 2-3 local shops and the bulk of them from either APMEX or Provident. Both also offer really good deals from time to time on Canadian Maples. Those are beautiful full oz. silver coins too, so make nice additions to most bullion stacks.

Maples have had problems with milk spots. As such, I like to buy older maples that are problem free. The online dealers try and charge more for older maples, but you can find them in person at shows for bullion prices.

I bought a small bunch (12) from Provident last month for what seemed to be the best price around at the time (and the shipping was very reasonable). I just checked, and they have 2011 BU ASEs for $32.52 ("cash" price) and they certainly appear to be in stock:

Yes, they have and it would be annoying to have that appear on my coins. This has not been a problem, yet, but I am watching for it in case it develops with time. There are a couple of You Tube videos that deal with this and that show how to remove these spots.

I like the suggestion for shopping the coin shows and perhaps even the gun shows as well. I need to find where any of these are held locally. The gun shows do a lot of advertising but the coin shows do not so it is harder to locate them.

I have been happy with Goldmart.com. They currently sell 2012 (presale) ASEs for $2.49 over spot. Their shipping rates are kind of high but still end up very competitive to the other sellers.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am heading to a couple of "Buy Gold and Silver" shops this morning on my way to the coin shop. I will post my results when I get back.

Well nothing good to report. I stopped at 3 "Buy and Sell Gold and Silver" shops and the few ASE's they had were not in very good shape(they are going in my Dansco) so I passed on them. When I stopped at the local coin shop is when I got my biggest surprise. I looked over some Morgans then asked him about the price on ASE's. Now I know that silver go up or down to much this week so when he told me $42.00 each I like to fainted. I told him I called last Saturday and he told me $38.00 he then said it was a crazy market. I asked him if he wanted to sell me 3 at $38.00 I would buy them and he told me no, so I told him to put them back. I am just about fed up with this guy, it is a 40 mile round trip just to go there and then to have the price jump $4.00 each when I think for the week silver may actually down, please correct me if I am wrong on that, well I just came home and ordered on line, $9.95 shipping but at least I don't have to drive 40 miles to get shafted. Thanks for letting me rant. I feel better now.
