Please can someone tell me which I have? I can't tell if its a shoulder fold or not. The more pictures I look at the more confused I am getting. I think its near leaf, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Just trying to figure on some type of value and I'm not a collector so I'm in too deep here. I'm sure my luck its a combination that's not worth anything!

I am not nearly as much into the detail of Canadian nickels as are a lot of others on this Forum. For the obverse, this coin seems to be a product of the re cut master die, because H.M. the Q's hair detail is much more sharply defined than on the original die as supplied by the British Royal Mint.

Interesting because the original master die for the New Zealand Penny was used for nearly four years, from 1953, where these coins are known as the 'strapless' variety. The 1956 New Zealand 'strapless' penny is a scarce coin.

The hair detail, ear, bodice detail, shoulder fold and shoulder strap are all more sharply defined on the later master die.
