Well, somewhat encourage is a bit strong, she generally just ignores me, especially when I am on a coin forum, that bugs her (when I do it at night).

Thats funny I just got told that "You are making me really mad". Well I guess that is my hint that I better get off of here. Maybe I can make it back tonight.
She doesn't mind the collecting, she just doesn't like it when I spend alot of time on the computer or looking at coins.

Tracey doesn't mind at all. I have tried to get her interested but she doesn't get it. We have an agreement. I can buy only with extra $ and I am very cautious. If I want something higher end (65 Walker) I save up or work overtime.

Is that the point of collecting? ...to get away from the wife? Yeah, men generally ignore their wifes to the point of the wives frustration. If it wasn't coin collecting or the Internet ..we'd be sitting side by side on the couch watching TV or a rented DVD ....hmmm...coin collecting sucks. hahahaha.

Depends on if I'm buying them for me, or for her....

In a way, I suppose I'd have to vote for 'strongly encourage', my husband (dec'd) got me re-started on collecting by inheriting some coins & then I eventually inherited them. I was already interested, but pretty much inactively, now I'm hooked.

What coin collection are you referring to? I don't know of any coin collection.

Not married yet, but the other half approves of my collection. Even though he is not as into it as I am, he shows some interest and asks a lot of questions. I do get a raised eyebrow when I drop a couple hunderd on one coin though.

My wife is indifferent to my coin collecting. What she likes is when I sit down with my 4 year-old and show him my collection or thumb through my RedBook or SCWC with him.

I voted Neutral. As long as I do not go over my budget on coins she seems happy. There has been times, she thinks I spend to much.

LOL I knew this would come up or I woulda brought it up. You know the little packages you get in the mail, well I try not to let my wife see them, and when she does, ooops.
I do show my 10 year old daughter every single coin and tell her the value of that coin. She loves coins. My wife could care less or worse.
I do point out to her coins that I bought that really appreciate like the 2001 Silver American Buffalo or the Speared Bison.
Two days ago she saw a box sitting there and said what's in that. And I said that I hadn't decided wether to open it or not [(5) 2006 20th]. She seemed annoyed and said to slow down. I then told her what was in the box and that I had just got it and that it was worth at least twice what I paid for it. I not sure if she believed me or not but I think she did as I never lie.
Hmmmm .... I wonder when my daughter grows up if her husband will like coins?

My Wife doesn't mind at all. She admittedly has no interest in it so for the most part just ignores. It is not nearly as costly as my other (marine reef aquariums) hobby! It could easily get much more expensive, but for now even my major purchases are generally under $100.
