I am not selling any of my stash now, I love my stash, I just like having an exit strategy if need be. Not nearly as liquid as the paper stuff.

The first thought that comes to my mind is ebay, and then a local coin store. But ebay + Paypal fees (If you xfer money to a bank account) comes out to be 11.9%! Which is horrible...

ebay maxes out their fee's at 100$ though. But if you sell... for example a st gauden double eagle for 1900$ you would pay 55$ for xfering the money, and 100$ for simply selling it.

I having been doing a bit of research with sites that have low to no fee's, or easier to sell. Right now, I have found, ecrater, atomic mall, ebid, and epier.

Just curious if anyone has tried any of these, and what kind of success they have had. I think I've decided that buying on ebay is just fine, but after the fee's on ebay (even though most things sell a little high) you still come out with a little less then you should

I have not sold any of my stash yet but agree that having a good exit strategy available would be good. One thought that occurs to me is that there are businesses that buy and sell via ebay that you could look up and see what they would offer for various bullion items that you might want to sell. If they have a store somewhere or their own website, there would be no need to go through ebay or paypal.

Great idea and points there Ed....

There are small time guys who run their own bus on ebay like me, bottom of the barrel. And on the other end of the spectrum there are big time businesses that have 50,000 plus positive feed-backs, and they do indeed have stores, Pawn shops, other websites, many employees, and that is not a bad idea at all. Of course, I bet they would be offering under spot, not over, just like a Pawn shop guy would, for the same fundamental reasons.....

If one wants to sell on ebay when the time is right, figure out how much you want for profit, and subtract 14% off the top regardless for pay-pal and ebay, and even 15 to 20 bucks to insure an ship, via tracking info priority, AND SIMPLY PRICE IT ACCORDINGLY....

For example if I sold 100 oz. on ebay at say 3500 tom, via a 100 oz. Englehard bar. Now subtract 490 bucks to ebay an pay-pal (there the same thing, they charge us twice. Net flix tried that and almost imploded, lol), and lets go easy an say ten more bucks for shipping. You cleared 3000 now, and that does not include bus deductions like gas, shipping material, time invested, handling (And I was handling it a lot, lol) etc.....

So, if you wanted to clear 3500, you need to sell it at 4060 dollars, just is what it is. And I offer free shipping often, so crank that price up 15 more bucks to 4075, to clear 3500 after the 14% and shipping.....

Fuzzy, the point you are going for I think, is do a deal through the CCF and side track ebay all together?

Did that already on a 2500 dollar transaction, using pay-pal only, and lost 98 bucks to paypal. Now, If I had sold it through ebay I would have lost much more, 11 an a half percent more. So the buyer was smart to come up with that idea and trust me enough to go that route, so as we could agree on price we were both comfortable with....

Another-words, offer me a less then what I ask, but by negating ebay, the difference is made up to close to the same amount I would have made if the buyer had clicked buy it now or bid in. Plus, the risk is taken by the buyer in that situation of course, by not being protected by ebay's buyer protection case program. So that can be a gamble, minus trusting the seller as they are perhaps a member at at CCF, like in the situation fore mentioned by me above.....

yes, why not bypass ebay and paypal all together. Use CCF Consignment or CCF's P.I.N.

I sell every now and then taking the profits to buy more silver while never having to come up with any new money. First off selling PM is faster than what you think.

The slowest method is through one of the large bullion companies such as APMEX. You can get some good prices but it takes up to two weeks by the time you ship and receive your check.

My preferred method is to another bullion person through a private sell. Fast and I get spot price. Though timing is key - your buyer has to have the funds now.

Another good place for me has been a few local jewelry / gold /silver dealers. Better than the internet companies and fast, same day. They are always buying.

Hit and miss have been the so called coin dealer, they offer the far less than the above do. I don't get upset I just remember they have the most overhead for what they are trying to do. The good point is that this too is fast - same day.

So it has depended on when I wanted the money and what I wanted in profit. In any event I have never lost money and I have grown my personal holdings by a large amount ( never having to add more money) hitting the market at the right time.

If you are selling at spot I am a buyer most of the times.

"CCF Consignment or CCF's P.I.N."

Great call Fuzzy, as another example of knowledge being power and I did not know about that....
