Right crystal, I like what NGC is doing, I can see labeling a coin "Early Strike" but not first strike.

I don't think it really matters which phrase the TPG's are using. Its just a gimick, A die can only be used a number of times until it needs to be replaced. So a first strike can only happen with a new die, even if that die were replaced in December and the Mint was still making coins. It is clearly impossible to know what coins are a first or early strike, unless you were standing near the press and plucked the first couple of coins out that came one the conveyer.

I own two silver euro commemoratives that were plucked from the dies as they were made, placed in serial numbered containers, shipped to the U.S. by way of a PCGS courier and slabbed accordingly. Only 200 of the first struck gold and silver commemoratives were done this way and I was the first individual in the U.S. to place a telephone order for these coins. Did I get number 1 and number 2? Not a chance as big bucks bought them right out from under me and I ended up with #132 and #133 so this shows where the average U.S. collector stacks up with the big boys and big money. It was confirmed twice that I was the first to attempt an order and at the same time they were accepting "bribes" so to speak on the lower numbers. They claimed at the time #1 and #2 were currently at $600 each and the suggested retail for this stunt was $99 per slabbed coin which was about $50 more than it should have been. None the less I took two of the French commemoratives to D-Day and put them away for the future but I doubt seriously if I ever make such a move again. If coins and love are the same thing then it is true that all is fair in love and war?

Actually the label states "Early Release" which is just deceptive way of saying "first Strike" NGC is just hoping that the sheep will still follow the wolf by re-wording and not eliminating the contoversial labels.

The HSN should be baned from the coin market. I can't help nut get MAD,MAD I have told my wife never get anything from HSN as you will pay way to much for it. So what does she get me for Christmas the Sagagawea
dollar set from the HSN with shipping she paid $ 428.00 for this.

About half the Sagagawea dollars looked like they came off the street as I have found better ,looking coins in pocket change. I am not kidding they are so scratched up when my wife got them last August she even was shocked. So I asked her well why didn't you return them she said the man on the HSN said they were so valuable oh my........

Anyway now I have a complete set of Sagagawea dollars that cost $ 428.00 and are most likely worth $ 100.00 of that.

DOWN WITH THE HSN

Bruce,
You are not the only one for my birthday last year my wife was watching the coin vault Robert Chambers was selling a 2005 marine dollar NGC PR69 ultra cameo. Her thinking was well he was in the marines he collects coins that will be a great birthday gift. She gave it to me 41 days after she bought it with shipping $207.00 and it was passed the 30 day return so thats that.I did not let on that she made a big mistake I just told her next time I will help her if she wont's to get me a coin for a gift.

THE OTHER BRUCE.
