Really like that piece Angel it has an Ironclad on it very nice!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Americ...em231893a9c4

Grant was a genius, and it first came out out Vicksburg, not long after he took Fort Donaldson not far from Nashville....

Some say he was a butcher as 60,000 plus died under his command but the war ended in 6 months after he took over. And cold harbor was real ugly, the worst hour of the war for the north, like 6500 killed in roughly an hour. All the other idiots in charge before him had lost around 200,000 and achieved nothing up to the point when he took over. I am a huge fan of Grant and what he accomplished, and the history of Vicksburg.....

Many also do not realize that Gettysburg took place a few days after Vicksburg, two major blows that changed the course of the war, and the South would never recover.....

Speaking of Ironclads, love the story of the Virginia and the Monitor....

I am gonna get one of those....

I see you love history as well! I found a book 'The Gettysburg Address and Other Writings' by Lincoln that I included with the Gettysburg coins. Yes, I as well really didn't realize that the Gettysburg and Vicksburg Battles were pretty much at the same time until I visited Vicksburg in 2003!

I've been thinking about getting a 5 oz. Vicksburg myself; I was born and raised in Mississippi. The history is fascinating, and much more complex than many know. For example, Vicksburg fell on July Fourth, and the locals didn't celebrate on that day again until World War II!

I've never had a problem with ebay, but I usually buy only cheaper coins or junk silver. I've never tried APMEX or Provident, but have thought about it.

Coins are taxed here, so we only have one major coin shop. I go there sometimes, usually just to browse. Pawn shops here are useless, since they charge way too much, and their selection is poor. I have found a gem or two in them, though.

The local monthly flea market is where it's at. It has at least 5 or 6 dealers competing, cash only, who "include" sales tax. Several of them are from out-of-town coin shops I didn't know existed. I've had my best luck there, because I can haggle.

I was interested in buying silver on ebay. However, I've been a member for approx 6 months and 3 people have attempted to scam me.
Scam #1. I sold $380 worth of junk gold and two months later the buyer did a chargeback on her credit card. Luckily I purchased both tracking and a signature at the time of pick up so paypal covered the 'loss'.

Scam #2. I sold a ps3 game and later on the buyer demanded $5 back or they would leave negative feedback.

Scam #3. I bought a nintendo DS for $107. 1 week after I got it, I found out it was a fake and within that week, the game turned off out of nowhere and will not work. The seller had thousands of positive feedback. When I messaged ebay, they notified me he has been banned and nothing could be done about my purchase. So yeah I was out $100.

So because of these three issues, I do not trust ebay for things like precious metals. I will never buy from there.

I cannot stress enough to people who sell their silver make sure you get tracking on your sales. Its a little costly but its better than losing $300 bucks to some scammer.

Silverhawk I looked at the listing you linked and it is for the Uncirculated coin that just went on sale today and won't ship for at least 4 weeks (what I was told at the Mint). I didn't think you could list on ebay unless the item is in hand at least that's how the 5 coin Silver Eagle was. Just wondering. Also why buy from there if the mint is 204? Just wondering

Crystal man you called it, that is my new policy this year via tracking numbers an sign confirmation, proof of delivery in essence....

Being nice an expecting the same, not in this cruel world my friends....

I sold this one Laserion robot to a fellow in Singapore for 200 bucks. It takes about 6 weeks to get to Singapore, in my case at least. I guess he decide he did not want an did not claim on his end, and sent me email accusing me of being a crook. Thirty minutes later, like three months after original transaction the USPS guy shows up with unexpected package, that robot of course. So I refunded him....

I sold it again to fellow in Cali who can barely communicate via English, and he said it did not show up. Never left neg or anything, and I told him it may be lost in transit and it would come back to me perhaps....

I checked back, no reply of arrival or anything in weeks. I figure con artist who got it, an is trying for the money back to boot, or they got it late....

I have shipped well over a 100 things with no incidents, but yet this one item will not just go away, lol....

lol.

If he hasnt bothered you lately.. 100% he has the item now.

If what youre selling is cheap purchasinf tracking is almost impossible if youre trying to make any kind of profit. Here in Canada they charge an arm and a leg. At least the signature is only $1.50. I was sending out a small parcel and the contents were $20ish dollars and they wanted $14 for tracking. I couldnt do it so thankfully I didnt have any claims. But anything significant, Its 100% tracking and signature.

Even though I had those 3 terrible experiences I have sold lots of things too without incident. I sold a $20 gift card because I dont use that store, there were a few bidders and no word of a lie, A guy paid me more than the card was worth. Mind you it wasnt much more but still, I dont get it.

Forward their email to ebay. That's called FB extortion, and a good way to instantly lose an account.

I have been very lucky at ebay. Been a member there for 15 years with thousands of transactions both buying and selling. I've never been scammed and never had a bad experience other than one or two buyers who were jerks.

So far, no issues with the coin transactions I've had there as well. I haven't sold anything but buy whenever the price is right. I try to get at or bellow spot so of course I only win 1 and goodness knows how many auctions.

I do also buy with a couple of local coin shops.

I've yet to place my first order with the big metal houses. I get my yearly bonus at work next month so looking to make my first order then.

Well, there we have it, folks. Living proof that scumbag scammers on ebay work both the buy and sell ends of things.

I'm sure that it is possible to do good business on ebay. My son does this from time to time and has never (knock on wood) had a problem. Of course, he is scrupulously honest and communicates with his buyers on a regular basis. That helps to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding about the terms of the sale. Not that scam artists care about that, of course, but the honest folks sure appreciate it.

As for myself, ebay just is not the place I want to do business. There are other ways to do business and practically all of them look better to me than ebay. To each their own.
