Was going to travel around southern China for two weeks, due to my Spring Festival holiday. Went to the train station and asked when I could buy a ticket to Nanchang, they said 10 days before, so 11 days before I go back and they say tomorrow, the next day I go back, no tickets. Grr. So the tickets were sold out long before I could even buy them, great system. 200 million people travelling to and from places in the space of two weeks, hmm.

So instead I got really stressy, and thought, where can I go that has no Spring Festival? Korea. It is cheaper to fly to Korea than to fly anywhere in China that is worth going to.

So, I have no idea, and only 9 days to figure it all out, can anyone give me any tips on coin collecting in Seoul or anywhere else for that matter. I will probably stay all my time in Seoul, but go outside on day trips.

I've written down all south korean coins from Krause and prices, so will be looking out for them, but any good shops to go to, antique places and things to really look out for?

I haven't been to Korean coin markets so I can't tell you anything about that. Check cointalk.com and there is a Korean thread at the moment. I think the poster is mlov43.

You wouldn't be buying coins at Krause price for one - Korean coin prices have gone nuts. Might try to pull out any early Korean coins struck before 1982 or nice UNC coins from circulation. You might be surprised how difficult that can be. I don't think 5 won and 1 won circulate any longer. Also I believe old 10 won coins have started to disappear from the market - I wouldn't be too surprised that they are heavily melted down for the metal content.

I'm not too sure if you are looking for old Korean coins but good luck! Make sure you know what you are looking at and if you see something that I don't have, you can brag to me.

Hope you enjoy your time there!
