I'm new to this forum, but it sounds like there is a lot of coin collecting knowledge represented here. Recently, I had a complete set (1986-2006) of silver eagles graded by ANACS and encapsulated in their new Clearview Holders. They were spotlessly clean coins and all graded MS69. It has been several months and I have just noticed that every single coin in the set now has moderate to heavy edge toning! They were stored in a safe in an air-conditioned room, so I cannot understand how this happened. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Needless to say, I am very disappointed; and I suspect that the ANACS encapsulating process or the holders themselves are to blame. I have contacted ANACS twice, but they have not responded. I would appreciate any help or advice that anyone has to offer.

Thank you,
Paul Olivarez

This is a new problem for me on the ClearView holders. I used to have an "in" with ANACS when James Taylor was President there and I used to forward these issues to him. Now that he is with ICG, I don't have my connection there any longer. I would suggest going to ANACS' site and contacting them via email to let them know what is happening. The reason I suggest email instead of a phone call is that you will then have a paper trail.

Susan,

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately, I have e-mailed ANACS twice with no response. The latest just a couple of days ago. It's very frustrating.

If email isn't working, perhaps you should try calling their customer service. The number is (800) 888-1861.

I really have to believe Anacs switched holders much too quickly and without proper testing. It was devistating to me and my type set, but it seems it was also bad for everyone using Anacs. Having dealt with them I can only tell you the chances are good you are stuck with what you have. I very much doubt Anacs will or can fix everything Mr. T did for them. Perhaps they will soon realize going back to the old holders is the best thing they can do. I hope that is so.
