Happy New year all!
Has anyone seen a D like this before?

I saw your post several days ago and thought,"AHA, looks like lettering I've seen on English coins", and figured it must be that someone at the mint in England used the wrong punch on a Canadian coin. Spent several hours looking through all different Eng. denominations, then many foreign coins to try and find it. No luck.
Today, I was checking some of the errors on this site and rechecked an 1881 quarter to see if it had the weak crossbar A's or any other errors and, VOILA, found this D.
Unlike your coin, however, mine has a number of letters that are missing serifs(notably the N in CANADA, while yours is complete - will post the other letters in a different post).
What date is yours?
