I've noticed it's really easy to find 2001 "Year of Volunteer" dimes, but the 2001-P with the Bluenose on the reverse seems really scarce. I can't seem to find a breakdown of the mintage for each of these two varieties. Does anyone know how rare the Bluenose dimes are?

Hmmm. You can't both be right. Ugly, where did you get that information? It's interesting that if you add 42 million to the the 224, the total is pretty close to CC's quote from the dealer site. Is there a source where I can know for sure?

I'm pretty sure CC's quote for bluenose is a combined mintage number.
I used Charltons, it's sometimes wrong, but not usually by a quarter billion.

I agree. 500M dimes is alot for one year. I took this from JandM's website so the accuracy, or lack there of is theirs. It's certain that Charlton is a better source.

Yeah, I think it's combined mintage too. In fact, I think that's what I'm seeing all over the internet, which is why I thought I'd ask here. I'm inclined to believe the 46 million figure for the Bluenose. I'm having a real hard time finding them in circulation, at least in my area.

I checked the mint report from 2002 and the total mintage of the 2001 dime is 270 million. So that is the combined amount. However it did not breakdown the amount in the volunteer vs the bluenose dime.

Yeah, 46 million seems to be the general consensus for the Bluenose variety and like I said, they sure seem hard to find in circulation so I guess I was right about them being fairly rare.
