Can someone explain to me why these are priced so high, for such a high mintage commemorative? Is it just because they are popular, or is there something else that I am missing?
It just seems odd that commemoratives with a third of the mintage, are going for a third of the price of a Buffalo.
It's a very popular classic American design and it was the first reissue of it. Furthermore, it is the only way to get the design as commemorative for a "reasonable" price because the mint decided to produce it as a 1 ounce gold bullion coin instead of reissuing it as a silver coin.
Thanks for the reply. I have the two coin set (BU and Proof), and hadn't noticed what the coins are selling for until recently. I'm glad that I already have them! Thanks again.
