I ordered my first box of halves from my local PNC last week. I picked it up on Tuesday and was happy to find 4 40% as well as 4 NIFC. I went back today searching for any loose rolls and when my teller went back to look I overheard the branch manager comment about how she just ordered a box for me and wasn't going to do it anymore. Has anyone else had an experience similar to this at PNC or any other big banks? Is this just an isolated event of one branch manager who doesn't want to go the extra mile?
I'm not really upset that she won't order anymore, but the way she went about it was completely disrespectful. She acted like everything is fine to my face, but behind the scenes she is clearly not happy with me. In fact, when I picked up the first box on Tuesday, I thanked her, and she said "Any time." I will clearly be looking for a new bank to do business with, but if they have a counter behind the desk, I've definitely found my first dump bank. Suggestions on where to start looking for a new bank? Should I try other national chains, or would I probably have more luck with the regional banks and credit unions? Thanks.

Try the phone book.Call around and ask to speak to someone about acquiring coins in bulk.

Is there anything you're leaving out of the story that would lead to her shenanigans? Did you pick up then drop back at the same place or? I'm just trying to think what could have possibly angered them. The manager I talk to even said "Call me next week if you want more, hun!" after I picked up 5 boxes on Tuesday. So if she's talking behind my back then .... sadface ...

Well, on 3 separate occasions I have picked up 2 boxes of pennies to go through, but the only ones I have returned went to a different bank in a different town. I thought I heard her muttering something the last time I picked up a couple boxes, so I don't think she appreciated that. But again, if she just would have told me no, I would not have been offended in the slightest.

Some people are just plain mean (I would rather use a different term but I won't) They can't be bothered to do anything they feel adds to their workload.. Anyways with that being said the best thing you can do is cultivate relationships with various tellers and other bank personnel --eventually you will find someone that will work with you. : )
