Hi everyone,
I'm not to familiar with collecting paper money, but
I did receive a couple of one dollar bills from my
dealer recently.

They are a 1957,and 1935E with blue seals on them.I'm
told that the E actually stands for years,so this would
actually make this note 1940?Is this correct?

I know these are of no value, but I think they are a neat
addition to my US collection.I also have is
a 1976 commem. $2.00 bill.

I particularly want to thank ScoutJim for the Iraq dollar
he sent me.Given all that has been going on there,it is a
neat piece of history.Thank you Jim.

:) sn31.

Hello, sn31,
Those two $1 notes are just silver certificates. On the top of the note it actually has, "Silver Certificate Note" printed on the bill. They are only worth about $1-$2 a piece. Not too rare at all.

The note with the E does not mean it's a year older. They just put different letters by the date becacuse when the printed more notes, they had a different Secretary of the Treaesury. So it's a different signature. They change the date of the bill when they have a new Treasury of the United States and they change the letter by the date when they change Secretary of the Treasury.
Hope this helps,
Ty

Yes,I knew they were not rare, and of no value, otherwise he would not have given them to me :)I do however think they are a nice addition to my collection.

Thanks for clearing up the "E" thing,it's probably what my dealer meant, but I just misunderstood.I'm good about that sometimes.Haha LOL.

Thanks for your help,
:) sn31.
