Howdy folks!

** NOTE** - Photo is cropped, this is not a clip.

This is my 1803 large cent. It was marked as a 265 Large Date, large fraction. I didn't buy it as such, so don't worry.

After looking this over, this appears to be a Small Date, Small Fraction. I'm having trouble attributing this coin, it looks most like S-262.

I can tell what it isn't, and I've been through all photos for 1803. I've pointed out markers on the reverse to help identify.

1. No die break in D of UNITED
2. No Cud around T in STATES
3. T in CENTS barely connected to leaf, if it is
4. C in CENTS divided from leaf, seem to follow same contour
5. O in ONE - close to leaf but not touching

Thanks for looking!

I've gone back through the photos, and I'm still coming up short.

The position of the O in ONE relative to the western leaf is really throwing me off. The leaf approaches the lower half of the O in more of a horizontal fashion and appears to barely touch. Under loop, they don't.

The way the left stem is pointing at the N in UNITED, and not the U, leads me to believe this must be the N-256. However, I'm not seeing any of the cracks, the Cud, and things just don't seem to be lining up. It can't be the 262.

And it almost seems like there is a large 1 on the bottom of the fraction, with a small on top. lol

You got it right the second time, S-256.

I went by the positioning of the leaves and legend but the crack from the rim down through the D to the wreath is visible in the pictures.
