As some of you may know that JW has been selling some of his coins. I have purchased a few of them so far and this one is no exception. I was actually debating with myself about purchasing the coin and then made the final decision after seeing this thread. You can also read a little more about the coin there.

Yes, this is a coin of one of the 12 Caesars. I really like it and I think it was good for the price. Which is always a concern for me since I don't have too much money even though I have been purchasing a lot lately but soon I'm going to be cutting down. (famous last words?) lol

I'm not really going to try and focus on collecting this series because of the difficulties involved. And I just don't feel comfortable about collecting high dollar coins at all. Although, this one is acceptable to me for the price and appeal. I really like the coin.

As if with the other coins I purchased, I look them up in the books that I have and research as much as I can. I know I haven't mentioned much about the other details for most of my coins. Every coin I receive is more that I learn and I personally think I'm doing well for the a little over 2 months I've been collecting ancient coins, Roman Imperials in particular. There is just so much to learn and I am excited about it.

Since I purchased AORTA, I've been using it. Although, I understand the volume to be a stripped down version of ERIC II but still useful. There isn't enough selections for a attribution for this particular coin.

Nice coin . I had it attributed as RIC 100, BMC 149, BN 180, S 639. See if this helps. Glad you like it. Even though the coin is pitted so bad, the portrait is in high relief and fairly well detailed. It's too bad about the pitting though.

Yes--despite some pitting, there is a lot of remaining detail on the obverse--nice!
