I just finished my denarius collection of the 12 Caesars. Caligula was the hardest and most expensive followed very closely by Claudius. I saw a Caligula denarius at auction on ebay that never met it's reserve. It had $2k offered. It was a nice denarius but they sure do get carried away with the value on some of these. I can't even imagine the value on the coins you've been posting tonight.

I last paid in 1998 1,200 for a nice Caligula/Germancius denarius. They have pretty much bid me out of the auctions the now go for 6 to 20k. The only coin I have to have is the Caligula AV quinarius. I have only seen 3 in 25 years. That is great you are collecting the 12 Caesars in AR, WOW!!!

The Caligula denarius I purchased was not cheap and it is a very porous coin. Quote: The only coin I have to have is the Caligula AV quinarius. Does this mean you have a full AV set minus this one?

Well I collect any that interest me at the right prices, to put it simply, especially nicely detailed ones. But I am particularly interested in the large copper coins of the first and 2nd century, 3rd century radiates, London-mint coins, and late late Roman coppers (after Honorius, the hard to find later emperors - even though I don't have any yet). Boy would I love a coin of Majorian! I'm probably the only one interested in coins of these late Roman emperors lol.

I am not afraid to spend a bit on decent ancients, but I have to be certain of their provenance before I will allow myself to proceed. I also keep all of the documentation relating to their purchase.
Same mentality as with buying a house.
Late Roman bronzes? They are fun to attribute, but I must admit, that I don't have the documentation for any of those in my collection.

I only look for decent coins that are under $20 USD since that's what my budget is right now. Those coins are way out of my league.
And I just started collecting in November of the passing year. So, I don't feel comfortable buying any high dollar coin even if I had the money. Although, those coins you're posting are very nice indeed.

I once was looking for a Caligula and a Galba in fourree to complete my set but then people started paying money for plated coins and I stopped looking. I have seen Caligula but not Galba.
