I don't know how many Tiberius dies survived, but I've seen some other in European museums.

It looks like the hammer to me. The "anvil" die should be a more stable base.

That is very cool!

I do have one question though. The pics IMHO make the portrait and legend look raised. I would think that they should be recessed...?

It's an optical illusion--but it helps in this case to visualize the struck coin.
I'm reading AUG F AUGUSTUS TI CAESAR D.... So, TI is short for TIBERIUS? Makes sense.
Btw, that die looks relatively "new"; I don't see any flow/wear lines around the letters.

It shows very little wear even after all the coins it must have struck.

Most dies I have seen pictured have been forgers' equipment. Does this one have any story as to whether they accept it as official? I'm not comfortable with the letter style.
