Here Ya'll go again makin'fun of of me and cousin and Goober again. I told ya before and I'll tell ya again we'll never see this price point again! I'm not threatening just telling you we will never offer this item at this price until next time! You better put back at least 5 of these like me and goober have for all of our kids. I promise everything we sell is first strike only. We made a deal with NGC to get all first strikes of every coin ever made and we do sell for less than Littletons! Every coin we sell is undergraded. All our XF/BU's are at least MS62 or 63's. When we're alone we handle our coins properly. Did ya ever notice how pretty our randomly opened coins are and when were showing you samples every coin cartwheels in our monitor lights? I have to go now as my jewlery is weighing down my hands! Thanks, "Gomer'Bob and "Goober" Paul...Where's "Ellie May" Julie? P.S All of the above information is documented by a leading numismatic publication......

They are the only station who runs these 24 hour + shows on coins. They must be selling a ton of coins. So how does that reflect upon you and I?

Hello Crew! They sell all they can get their hands on. They have all the bases covered. Up to 5 months no interest payments, easy to get S&H credit cards, another card strictly for big purchases and although we all laugh at it a very successful marketing strategy that was started by a man named Joe Holt about 20 years ago.(He now runs "Coin Country" on PAX T.V.) It's the modern version of the Sears catalogue. Never leave home and everything comes to you. If you don't like it send it back! Thirty days to decide as well. I say a bit of envy mixed with a bit scorn for them making the big money off the so-called "innocents". Mike

Another viewpoint to consider...
Although the coin shows on the various shopping networks tend to be hawk over priced coinage to the uneducated consumer, they do serve to introduce a large number of collectors to our hobby.
As a dealer, I have spoken with numerous collectors who first got bit with the bug by making a purchase from one of these shows. They may have been irritated to find out what their purchase was really worth, but in most cases they chalked it up to a lesson learned. With time they educated themselves, started attending shows, and assembling respectable collections.
So although I do not agree with the methods employed on these shows, I think all in all they have a positive impact on our hobby.

I GUESS THATS OK IF YOU ONLY LOOSE A FEW BUCKS..IN MY WORLD IT WOULD BE LESS THAN $100.00 AND THAT WOULD STING PRETTY BAD. I AGREE IT'S A GOOD THING IF IT JUMP STARTS A HOBBY AND PEOPLE SEEK OUT HONEST REPUTABLE DEALERS AND EDUCATE THEMSELVES. WHAT IS REALLY BAD IS THE PEOPLE THAT KEEP GOING BACK BECAUSE 1) IT'S CONVIENIENT 2) THEY GET SUCKED IN 3) THEY "TRUST" SOMEONE ELSE INSYTAD OF EDUCATING THEMSEVES 4) EASY PAY PLAN- I WOULD PREFER IF THEY SOLD HONEST COINS AT HONEST PRICES AND KEEP HAPPY PEOPLE THAT DON'T TRASH THEM. I GUESSD THEY PREFER IT THIS WAY

Have any of you looked at a Littleton's mailer that goes out to novice collectors? Our good old boys use the "Leading Numismatic Publication" (Littleton’s Catalogue) to make their prices seem reasonable! Where's the hue and cry against Littleton’s? [:0] There is none because they also cater to the high-end collector in a very competitive way and are well respected in the industry and conservative in their grading. Many folks are very happy with what they buy on S&H and are repeat buyers for the most part. About 10 years ago I bought Morgan Rolls from them because I rarely got sliders and they were not yet price gouging like they are now. The great escalation of prices started with the State Quarter Program when the demand for collector coins started to go through the roof. Again I say a little "envy" for masterful "down home" marketing mixed in with "scorn" for the chance of alienating new collectors! I agree with “cdcdany”(Welcome!)in that it brings more people to the hobby then it turns away! Mike

The only thing that bothers me about Coin Vault is that somebody will try to sell what they bought and find out that they overpaid by a bunch. I just hope that this doesn't sour them to coin collecting. I DO watch the show just to see what different items they have. If I see something interesting, I write down a description and then go e-bay.

Many of these people also end up soured to dealers when they go to sell because they feel that the dealer is trying to take advantage of them when they offer a truly fair price.

Hi Folks, Here I go again! Buy almost any coin at retail or "book" price from a dealer and try and sell it to another dealer and you are usually not going to be very happy with the results either! Some of the dealers I know spend a great deal of time telling people that they are one of the good guys and to "look out" for the other guys (rampant critisism of others in this hobby!). I state this again...Everyone can't buy every coin every time at wholesale! Somewhere, sometime, someone has to pay retail or near retail or there would be no coin business! Any object that can be "traded" as opposed to just sold outright (when was the last time you negotiated the price of a box of crackers) is rife with complaints about over charging. Take autos, diamonds and jewelry, large appliances, to name a few. White Hen Pantry and 7-11 stores bury you with the price of non-essential items they sell because of the "convenience" they provide. On this and other forums few collectors, particularly new ones will admit to having bought anything from the T.V. wizards, but have no trouble confessing how some evil dealer or ebay seller has ripped them off ! The T.V. folks survive because they have tapped into a marketing area that other dealers have not. I know of three T.V. coin venues. Two are very expensive, and one called "Coin Country" is a blast to watch and not nearly as expensive.(founded by Joe Holt, the original founder of S@H network) You can call in and negotiate your offers on live T.V. with the seller’s reps! They are a bit high to start, but when you offer 80-90% of their asking price they usually accept the offer. Everything they sell has a full 30-day, no questions asked money back guarantee! They also sell "one off" coins and have a much larger variety available then the other two. I'm getting off my soap box now, sorry for the rant, but as ND has said time and again, "parting with some money is one of the costs of learning"....Mike

Listening to that Robert Chambers is ANNOYING! Plus they seem to over hype the coins they sell.

While I have seen coins hyped on TV like gold-plated State Quarters (which, in my opinion, are barely worth their original .25 as they are now altered), I have also noticed that they are starting to sell NGC and ICG graded coins. Yes, their prices are still a little high, but at least with those, you are looking at coins that will probably at least hold their current value, if not increase. I'll never forget the show for the raw BU Morgans that the guy was handling all over the place, though. The woman kept yelling at him to put it down. It was hysterical. The coin must have had 5-6 fingerprints on the surfaces by the time the guy was done. Actually, it was the next show I watched that they were selling slabbed coins - maybe they just wanted to protect the coins from big, old fat fingers?

I have no experience with the shows you are talking about because I don't get them here but I would like to share my experience with our "Shopping Channel" There is a dealer from Toronto who comes to the Shopping Channel four or five times a year. The prices he charges are sometimes considerably more than the accepted retail value. Free market and buyer beware aside here is my problem with the way he operates. The information in his presentation is,while not exactly untrue, very misleading. I will give my favourite example (those of you who know me from C.T. will have seen this before). The Royal Canadian Mint started in 1971 producing what they call a "prestige proof set".The quality in both the coins and the presentation has improved a great deal over the years and the price for a 2005 set is about $80.00.The issue price in 1970 was $12.00 and catalogue values for set from the 70's is still mostly under $20.00.Even into the mid 90's with one exception(the 1991 which is never sold in these offerings)the CCN trends prices are still under $40.00.They now offer a group of from 5 to 20 of these early sets at an avergae price of about $50.00 and tell you what a great deal it is "compared to current issue price" the most often used phrase in all the shows. So you are being sold a $20.00 set for $50.00 and are led to beleive that you are saving $30.00.It may not be dishonest but I certainly think it's unethical. That's my rant Bill

I agree with you - it's very shady and misleading, though not an outright lie. However, these guys ramble on and on and people only listen to about every other word, so I'm sure that many only heard $80 value, $50 purchase and end up feeling like they got a great deal. Couple that with the high-pressure sales on TV ("call in the next 5 minutes and you will get an additional xx") and you've got the makings of a nice little scam on your hands.
