Hey everybody,
I just had a question about a coin dealer. Has anyone ever dealt with Legend Numismatics? If so, could you describe your experience (good, bad, fair, etc.)? Also, are their prices good/fair, or should I look elsewhere for better?
Appreciate any help on the subject.
Thanks,
Michael

Michael, what country are you in? And is Legend Numismatics in the same country? This may help narrow down which members here can assist you the most with your question regarding coin dealers. Also, if you could specify where Legend Numismatics is based (eg. Internet, country & state, or nation-wide) it may help as well.

Legend is one of the largest rare coin dealers in the US. Here is a link to the site: http://www.legendcoin.com/I have not had personal dealings with them, but they are very well known.

You're not going to find a dealer with better coins. Equal, yes. Better, no. I don't think their prices are out of line for the kind of stuff they have, but by all means, as always, shop around!

Thanks everybody. Snooba, you're right. I should have given some specifics. I'll make sure to do that next time.
It's good to hear that people know about Legend. I'm always a little wary about contacting a dealer that I don't know, so I try to find out what other people, more experienced than I, know & think about it.
I feel better, now, about contacting them concerning a coin in which I am interested.
Thanks again,
Michael

Legend has brokered many of the largest coin transactions in history, and helped to build some of the finest collections ever assembled. They are at the top of the heap, in a group of perhaps half a dozen world-class dealers.

I agree that you can't go wrong with Legend, if you can afford the best of the best then by all means they are the ones to deal with. As was said they are responsible for helping build many top collections and are as trustworthy as anyone in the business you would ever hope to find. If I had unlimited funds they would definately be one of the companies that I would pay to find coins for me because they know where the coins are and when it is time to sell it seems everyone goes to them first to sell because everyone knows they always have the funds in hand to purchase any amount or size of collections and aren't afraid to pay what the coins are worth

Legend is undeniably at the top of the rare coin business. I had the honor of actually meeting Ms. Laura Sperber at the Whitman show, if only for a little while. She was really nice, even though she probably guessed that a 14 year old kid couldn't afford any of her coins. She's also the one behind the Eliasberg 1913 nickel, and Bruce Moreleen's amazing collection of Trade and Seated dollars.

Im pretty sure that Laura does not appear in person as she has been portayed on a certian forum,, Business people are all about business and that is often mistaken for negative personality traits.

Laura just tells it like it is. There is no dissembling in her makeup. She's very high on the list of people I'd like to share a few beers with someday.

Well, she's pretty good for business. How about hooking collectors when they're young and getting them to drop big bucks with you when they've got the money?

I have seen people say they went to her table and she just acted like they werent even there thats why I said what I said earlier. I wasn't talking about the way she is portrayed on the forums I am talking about the way she acts at the shows as well. Now I have never heard anything bad about the guy that helps her (cant remember the name right off hand but I am thinking Carlos or something like that) But I have been told Laura was the same in person as she was on the forums and if she has deemed you a wannabee collector or dealer she will not even look at you. I guess I am a wannabee collector because I wannabee one of the people that can afford to buy coins from her but I am unable to
