He found a 6 oz. nugget last video I saw, and a 5 oz. just laying on the surface. I find those all the time, everytime I go to the desert
Crapola if you ask me

It does seem hard to believe since gold is so heavy, how can it be sitting on the ground like that, but that's how a few huge nuggets were found in the early 1800s in NC and GA (in the USA), which led to a lot of gold mining in those areas.

If you figure gold is heavy and just sitting on the ground like that, there must be a lot more underground. A good place to start some mine surveying.

The nugget looks like it has been sitting there for some time too, so I don't think he just planted it there and then 10 minutes later he video taped it.

I'm no prospector, but if I saw a nugget 1/10th that size I'd did up the surrounding countryside looking for more.

I wonder if he is trying to sell land/mining claims in the area that he claims to have "found" those nuggets?

Unfamiliar with geology there, but still... I'll just wait for the Aussies to comment.
Rest in Peace

Last summer a guy "found" a huge nugget on his claim, the largest in existence in his state. Turns out he bought it in OZ, where nuggets that size are far from the record.

I have seen some huge nuggets come out of OZ.
I know occasionally, there they are on the surface.
This guys videos are hard to believe...in a way.
I guess I'm comparing it to the Arizona desert where I frequent.
the six ouncer he dug, he was slamming the pick carelessly into the ground too.
He did dent the nugget in a couple of places.

What got my attention is the guy addressing the "cynics", and showing how the nugget was stuck in the ground.
That part is easy enough to fake on a hot day--lay down a nugget, sprinkle dirt and rocks around, then spray water and wait to dry.
I could see how some really dense "hardpan" could prevent a big nugget from sinking, but the soil doesn't look that hard--how long would it stay on the surface like that, after a couple wet seasons? But that's just the cynic in me--I've searched the desert for things, but never in Aus.
Rest in Peace

Just like with metal detecting, the older coins tend to have sunk deeper into the ground.

This story can be true believe me when he said the nugget was sun-baking it could have been sun-baking the fact is there have been many nuggets found on the surface in Western Australia the largest I've heard was 50 kilos (recorded),
this was published and the story go's they had a drag chain between two 4X4's cleaning the scrub for detecting and it got caught on what they thought was a rock turned out to be the 50 kilo nugget,
a gold reef 20 foot down in the desert the nuggets are on or near the surface yes It's got me stumped as well but the nuggets seem to float to the surface through water hydraulics or erosion and yes the gold reef is directly below the floaters that's how a lot of the reefs were found by detecting down to them,
the eastern states are different though you still get your sun-bakers there but not as many as W.A.
I hope I haven't confused any one but this was added to confirm that sun-bakers are out there just waiting for anyone to walk over them.

A 50 kilo nugget--wow, very interesting about gold reefs and "sun-bakers". Australia has interesting geology--opals, gold, diamonds and sapphires!
And, the first gold discovered in California reportedly was seen shining below water level. It didn't sink in that case either, even with water action.
