Chloegreen13 New Member United Kingdom 2 Posts	Posted 01/20/2012 12:20 pm My friend has this coin/token It's George IV Dated 1820-1830 silver On the front it has george IV with a crown wreath like roman wreath, georgius IIII D:G: , Britanniar Rex F:D: And then on the other side of the coin this is what baffles us, The coin is plain and has engrave George IV 1820-1830 Just want to know what coin it is, bit of history about it and maybe if it's worth anything? It was passed down in the family and been sitting at the back of the wardrobe for 15 years. as we have searched the Internet and cannot find The same coin ... We have found similar but not the same. We prefer discussing coins/tokens/medals here on the forum so everyone could see and learn. This definitely sounds like not a coin but a medal commemorating the reign of KG4 issued posthumously. Although since you're saying the reverse is engraved an actual coin could be used, with the reverse polished and altered. In either case it would be helpful to see the piece here. Cajunlady0 Valued Member United States 318 Posts	Posted 01/20/2012 6:25 pm If those pictures are on your computer, then it is easy to do. Just click the REPLY TO TOPIC at the bottom of this thread. Then you will see UPLOAD IMAGE. Hit that and a new little window opens. Browse for your pictures on your computer and then hit upload to your post and the picture comes right here for all of us to see. Report this Post to the Staff

From your description, it sounds to me as if it were a normal British silver coin that has had one side ground off, and re-engraved with a memoriam to the king after he died. If you tell us how large it is, we could tell you which coin it was made from.
