I ran across this coin, and I like how most of portrait remains. The cheapskate in me also likes that it's only $25--good deal or not? 3.8gr

I sold one in not much better condition for $50 not so long ago. I don't think the damage has ruined the overall look of the coin. Its also not over the main details. Purists would probably be disgusted by it but I too have a cheapskate inside me and I think he would pay $25 for it

I don't have one of these, so because of the nice detail I wouldn't mind buying it if the price was right.

$30 to $45 for this coin seems to be in the right ballpark.

That is a nice coin with great details. A broken or chipped coin isn't so bad, and some of them seem more ancient to those that don't collect coins. If I had the money, I would purchase the coin because it has great details and looks very artistic to me. Although, I know nothing about these coins, so I really couldn't say.

That break looks very fresh to me.
Maybe they still have the little piece?

If they had the piece, do you think they would attempt a repair? It could be worth their while. Either with the piece or without, I decided to go for it--thanks for all the advice. To make shipping worth it, I tacked on this Greco-Bactrian coin of Menander. It was a very good price! JW, this is the same dealer that sold you the Caligula denarius--I just happened to see it--wow, you weren't kidding!

They look much better in hand then the image posted. I tried to take another photo, but it turned out no better than the seller's image. I am very pleased with this seller and have added him to my list of favorite sellers. I know you will like these coins. They are beautiful and I'll bet better in hand once you get them. Congrats.

JW, wow--better in hand than their pics, congrats! That coin is a real classic. That's a good sign--great, I can't wait. I suppose it's ok to put in a plug for this dealer. Most of their coins are way out of my range, but that Greco-Bactrian has very good detail, and it's just half what other dealers are asking, so I jumped on the chance.

The damage is hardly distracting, and it sure has detail. Even though I don't collect those kinds of coins, I wouldn't mind having it (or the other one you purchased) in my collection. Nice pickups DV!

JangoFett If a coin must be broken, I can't think of a better place for it to happen. I think of it like an ancient portrait bust--that shows damage, but somehow adds character. I'll post pictures when the coins arrive--with another Greek coin I got for cheap.
