I have had dreams of a bag of "silver" dollars tucked away in the back of a bank vault, just waiting for me to take it to it's new home.

It would not surprise me one bit if a bag of 1893 S or any other date/ mm that was previously unheard of in a full bag quantity surfaced. You never know....

Quote: I have been Cherrypicking through a stash of 1878/78Rev How about throwing me a email if you find any long nock 1878 7TF Morgans. If you find something I am looking for I will be very happy to pay you a finders fee. If they are DMPL or PL coins there is a chance one may be in there Quote: Imagine how the market price would be affected if a sealed bag of 1893-S showed up.

It happened with the 1898-O, 1903-O and the 1904-O. Anytime you have thousands of Mint state coins that was at one time rare hit the market at the same time the price falls overnight.I have read that at one time you couldn't hardly find a 1904-O in Uncirculated condition and when you did it cost you dearly. My luck is I would have searched for one for years and saved and struggled and finally found a MS-60 version and was happy as a peacock, then the next day the market would be flooded with sealed bags of nothing but this date in Uncirculated condition. I am sure this scenario played out when this happened with those dates mentioned above, maybe not the next day but still hurt the same when the market got flooded. It happened then, I am sure it can happen again, just not sure with a coin we know the mintage of like the 1893-S, but I would love to see a bag come to light of 1895 Morgans in Uncirculated condition (not Proof). Its a coin we have records were minted but has been thought to be a mistake and they were never really minted, now that would be the find of coin collecting history

A hoard of 25 unopened bags came out of a bank in Kansas in 2009. I'm sure there are more of them out there. At the height of the silver dollar rush on the Treasury in the early 60's they were sending out 5,000 bags a week! I'm sure some of those bags are still stashed away. In 1980 the largest hoard of them ever was disbursed, some 1500 bags from the Continental Illinois hoard. Some of those bags are probably still around.

yeah I am sure there are allot more bags left than one probably thinks. My grandfather has been dead for about 6 years and we have yet to go through his whole split level house with a full basement and full attic, not to mention his 36 buildings/sheds on his property. He amassed allot of stuff from movie posters that the movie theater in my home town used to put out every week to the whole service station inventory when he owned an ESSO station back in the 40's, including car lifts and drums of grease and NOS belts for T model Fords and tires from all different kind of cars from back then. It will probably take tearing the house down to find some of the stuff he has hidden because we have already found some things hidden under loose floor boards in one part of his house so there are probably more hiding places we may never find Quote: Oh, I was so "right-click, Save As" with that smiley. we just didn't have a smiley on the forum that represented my enthusiasm so I had to go looking

When it happened, it took awhile b4 they dropped. Communications were quite different, and the finder managed to run around the country a bit and unload singles and an occasional roll.

Wouldn't you want to keep a bag that rare a secret, and distribute them as low key as possible. As to not cut your own throat. But I guess I could see a wealthy person with a lot of love for the hobby wanting to alert the public as a way to do a good deed...... I guess...lol One things for sure, you'd be remembered. Loved bye some & hated bye others lol.

I would love to see a bad of 1895-P Morgans show up somewhere, just to rewrite history. Heck a roll would be sufficient really. If there were some of them found they would sell for moon money no matter how many were found just because of the mystique of the 1895 Morgan

Yeah, agree with above post. But, I'd love to especially see a bag or multi-rolls of 1892-O (my favorite Morgan coin, I'd by at least 20 MS63+++ on the spot. Also some bags of 1900S-1904S would be nice to see come out. They're just too elusive and everybody is looking for them. Pipe dreams are fun aren't they?

it would be interesting to see what would happen if all 12,000 1895 dollars showed up in a bank vault somewhere.
