I would say real. If it were altered the obverse would have been affected. My next question would be is it a struck through error or a delamination? The weight would answer that question.

Im at work, but I can tell you it weighs in at 2.6 grams and there is a mark similar on the reverse like the mark on the edge on the obverse.
