Hello All, My collection started off due to price when I started collecting in high school. I loved the history surrounding commemorative halves but could not afford the big prices. Many coins in my collection were bought raw or graded over 10 years ago for less than $50. Probably my greatest score was a PCGS F15 1921 Pilgrim for $40 at a local coin show in 2000. I did not realize there were lowball registry sets until a year ago and got back the collecting bug. I had to part ways with bullion I had to purchase several of the coins (Hawaiian in particular), but for me the coins were definitely worth it. Sorry for the lack of pictures. My picture taking skills are not the best and my camera is garbage My collection so far for the most part is found at #5 (circulated commems) on the PCGS lowball registry. I have a few other coins that are not on the registry. These coins include a Lafayette in ANACS PO01 (bought raw off ebay for $80 in 2010 and sent into ANACS), a raw Monroe Doctrine in AG03, a raw GWC in F15, as well as duplicates in higher grades. Steve

LowBall As a young boy I too was fascinated by the designs of the commemoratives depicted in my Whitman blue book. My first was a stone mountain and over the years I continued to add to the type set, some in coin shows or shops but mostly through mail order out of magazines back in the 70's and 80's. Some were delivered as true dogs but others were exceptionally nice. Nowadays I review the offerings on ebay with goals of AU or better but I have cornered myself into needing eleven; all are rare and expensive to my improved quality tastes. After thirty some what years it has become a lifetime project for a middle class guy. And then there are all the other coins that pull my attention too! Good luck on your quest as it will be harder than a uncirculated set to achieve.

I echo Muddler in wishing you the best of luck in your quest. Methinks NS might have some competition for the lowball set..

Thank you Muddler and Paleoguy for your kind words.
I don't think I will ever have a set as complete as Nickel Searcher. I really like the way his coins match up in the Dansco.
I am trying to acquire only coins in F15 or less and know that some will never be available (Spanish Trail,New Rochelle, Etc.). My funds are limited with a wife and 2 year old. I have been lucky to acquire the coins I have (3 from the #1 lowball commem set on the pcgs registry, and many others from a former lowball collector who also had a registry set)and any furthur purchases will likely to have to be funded through selling other coins I already have.

Thanks David.
I tried to upload a picture of the Lafayette I have, but the picture took up too much memory. I am thinking about possibly trying to cross it over to pcgs, but I am afraid that it will get a FR02 designation instead of the PO01 it has.

Lafayette Reverse. This is the main reason for the PO01 Designation. This coin holds a lot of sentamental value because it was the first lowball I sent into a 3rd Party Grader and the only PO01 I own.

Excellent ... photos finally from Steve! Hoping you show more. If you don't mind me asking ... a follow-up question to your statement below ... Quote: I am thinking about possibly trying to cross it over to pcgs, but I am afraid that it will get a FR02 designation instead of the PO01 it has. Why does this matter so much? You have a lovely coin ... and whether it is 'judged' to be P01 or FR02 ... it is still what it is ... a fabulous piece of USA coinage history with an amazing story to tell. I recognize the sentimental value perhaps ... but if your goal is a PCGS set ... then by all means send that lovely coin in for whatever crossover grade it receives. FWIW ... the Lafayette in my circulated set Dansco 7094 was purchased in a PCGS G06 holder ... and cracked out. Now I get to hold the lovely coin in my hand ... photo ... BTW ... I left you a comment on the PCGS site for your #5 ranked low-ball set ... nice start indeed. Hoping to see more photos of your set. David

Thanks Dave for the compliment on the pcgs registry.
I guess I keep the Lafayette in the anacs holder because I do like the look of the new holders (better than the blue ones) and right now my coin fund is $0.
I was thinking of crossing it over when I got my pcgs membership freebies, but you can only use one submission form and I would have needed 2 for raw coins (Maine, Missouri, and Stone Mountain) and the crossover.
Hopefully I will have the chance to load one more picture tonight of the Grant I have. These are all of the pictures I have as I would have to go to get the sdb for more.

Grant obverse. I no longer own the Isabella shown. I sold it on the bay last year.
