Your before & after pictures are not proof that it is the same coin, but it is compelling. I hope you have "before" pictures while still in the slab.


I have 86MB of pics of this coin, including Heritage's original (huge) shots. There's plenty of markers to confirm it's the same coin, most obviously the gouges on the eagle's chest.

I'm not going to bother with PCGS on this one - having cracked and dipped it, I cannot prove that I didn't scrub it myself. Anyways, "strong money" for an MS63 1921-D is only a little over $100. Of course, had it been $1000 I wouldn't have dipped it anyways.

This coin, along with many more pics, has been discussed on the PCGS boards. I got my shots in at them, they won't be getting any more of my business, and I will retell this story at every opportunity. That's enough payback for me.

PCGS although until recently, I would have said NGC.
