I own a couple of one-ounce Gold Eagles minted in the 1980's when the years were cast in roman numerals. I've heard that these may be developing a numismatic following--that people are beginning to express a preference for the roman numeral Eagles and even pay a premium. Is anyone else hearing this?

Nope, I see quite a few and they are only worth the gold content around here.

Thanks. I see you and I are in the same neck of the woods, which makes your observation especially helpful.

I haven't heard anything either. The only one oz Eagle that I know of worth a greater amount is the 2009 Double relief

More than 3.5 million were minted so they are not that rare.

Maybe not that rare but for the most part selling for around 3000 for a 1 oz item. Accidently found out when looking at auction prices. The M70 listed for a lot more. My local dealer would pay near 3000 to buy one he said so for some reason maybe not that rare but command higher prices. ( I looked at price a few weeks ago and that's what I'm basing the info on)
