I frequent both forums. At this point a distinction should be made as to which forum within CCU your unfortunate encounter occured. I believe that if the topic had been brought up on the World Coin Forum of CCU, this would not be a topic. One forum over there has been shut down completely due to unruliness, and the US Forum has been warned of their potential removal. The World Coin forum of CCU is as quality a forum as you will find.

DaBoz, you make an excellent point and I apologize for not specifying that I was referring to the US Coin Forum. I have read some of the posts on the World forum and it definitely has a different (and better) atmosphere.

Here's the stuff that bother's me... Most of you will remember my April Fool's Joke from last year.... Well look at the comment in this thread by XpipedreamR. This is why I don't like it over there. The forums are riddled with comments like this, directed at people at random. It's my feeling that if you don't have the time to keep a forum civil, you have no business running one. Period.

Awwww Bobby, your just being "over sensitive" and "over reacting" kind of like me. I feel that some of the posters on CCU have forgotten how to use their internet manners and are caustic, mean, put down artists. I am not a "newbie" to collecting and I don't intend to post there again, not that they care whether I do or not. On the other hand I regret that I didn't just ignore them, or just realize like I was supposed to that nasty comments are just meant as jokes. As one poster stated it's good that I left before experiencing some real hate. Darth, the guy who inherited his Grandfather's marvelous collection, while he did receive some valuable advice (when he was able to seperate it out from the posters arguing amongst themselves), had to endure the worst of CCU's regulars as well, Including outight charges of fraud, and for now seems to have stopped posting. I don't blame him! Any chance that we might have had a great new collector, with a historically significant collection, has prpbably been jeprodized by his exposure to these people. They are chewing off their own foot. I urge anyone who has not done so to read this long thread to judge for themselves. I'm done with this one. Peace. Colin

I am a Member of CU also,, I post very little on the forums ,,sometimes in the Metal Detecting forum and a less in the coin forum ,, but there are some really great guys there ,, but for the most part Coin Community better matches my personality .
I have been here virtually since the lights came on ,,I have watched and to a lesser degree participated in helping to build this forum into a Family Friendly, relaxed and Helpful place where the new collector as well as the seasoned collectors can come and relax share and learn without fear of being put down or made to feel inferior.
I think Mom and Dad have done a terrific job to make real what was once only a vision and desire ,, This forum is great by any standard !!

Any chance that Darth could be located and invited to "start over" here?

Might be to late Texas, but it is a good idea. I wouldn't know how to locate him without posting on their thread with a link and I'm not going to do that! He has been very secretive with his personal info and that is exactly what he should do as a collection like his will start a shark feeding frenzy. I think I read that he is in Hawaii?

Bobby, I remember that and I am sorry it happened. However xpoop is gone is has dissappeared with the other dregs on their own forum and exsist in their own dillusional world.
It is also true that pcgs did say that if anything other than coin related posts start popping up on the us coin forum the useres will be gone. They have also warned that if the changes didn't start they will delete the forum all together. It has been rather pleasant ever since.

The only thing I may be guilty of is being over-protective of our members. We've had members banned from here, then go to other forums and trash us. Guess what, I always find them, sign up, and defend our forum and our members. Didn't think I'd ever be on a Nintendo forum, but I am now. I cannot condone a brand new collector or a very young collector going there at all, especially via our forum. The comments that happen over there can throw a big monkeywrech in either of those types of collectors. Can I stop it all? No, not even close. Can I stop my little corner of it? Bet the house on it. With that said, I think I will give okie-colin a chance to respond to my comments, then lock this thread. I don't think we need to talk about CU stuff here, we've got way more important things to talk about. Hopefully everyone agrees.

Well Bobby, I apologize for opening the whole thing up. I agree we have gone on enough about this so I have no problem. Colin

That poster has averaged 55 posts per day, 7 days a week, since the day he joined CU. He has almost 66,000 posts in less than 3 1/2 years. Just thought I'd mention that little statistic for those who might be trying to figure the guy out.

He's somewhere in Texas. I read that entire thread and was not really surprised by the diversity of comments. It's typical over there to get the good, the bad, and the ugly in virtually anything posted on the U.S. Coin Forum. I used to post quite a bit on the U.S. Forum until I started getting slammed by a few of the guys who think they own the place. They must actually own the place, come to think of it, because they are still there slamming away at anything they don't like or agree with. The Darkside Forum, however, is an awesome place because of the knowledgeable, friendly, helpful people that are willing to share their time and expertise with practically anyone who comes in with a question. You know, kinda like this place
