I have a handful of coins that I still need to attribute, but I am struggling with them due to being worn and or lack of details. I'm going to start with the Faustina I coin. I hope that you guys will check my attributions or give me ideas that might help.

Wrapping-Up-Loose-Ends...

Faustina I

I believe it might be;

RIC 1177

Faustina I AE Dupondius or As, 11.32 gr, 27.81 mm. Rome, after 141 AD. DIVA FAVSTINA, draped bust right / AVGVSTA, Juno standing left, raising right hand and holding sceptre. RIC 1177; Cohen -; Sear -.

The size of the coin is 27mm.

The weight is 10.6g.

Consulting the RIC volumes just isn't giving me too much insight. Looking at Wildwinds is just confusing me since some coins have different obverse legends for the same catalog number. For example;

DIVAFAV-STINA
DIVA-FAVSTINA

There are a few others as well. Any help would be appreciated. I know it's tough since the details are worn.

Man, it's hard to tell for sure, but I think your reverse is Ceres rather than Juno. If (big if) I am right I would think you might attribute this as RIC 1169 or 1171. I'm more inclined towards 1171.

When wildwinds divides the letters as you indicated, it can be the same RIC number, but the legend has been divided differently (on either side of the portrait) by the celator for the same coin.

Thanks a lot, JW.

I also saw both of those you picked. I passed them up because the portrait style was a bit different. Those two seemed to have a larger bust at the bottom of the portrait.

I am going to look at those again.
