No, they're not out yet, just been given a survey to do and these are the themes they ask if I'd be interested in on something called snapsurvey.com, never heard of it.

24th July to 3rd August 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow
28th July 1914 Start of World War I
27th October 1914 Birth of Dylan Thomas
17th April 1814 End of the Peninsular War
26th October 1764 Death of William Hogarth (artist and engraver)
1st August 1714 Accession and Coronation of King George I, beginning of the Hanoverian dynasty
1664 Formation of the Duke of York and Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot, later the Royal Marines
1614 Publication of Walter Raleigh's History of the World, written whilst imprisoned in the Tower of London
1514 Trinity House established

I put 7, 10, 3 and then 1's for all the others. WW1 has to be the coin made you'd have thought!

2015

September 2015 Queen Elizabeth II becomes our longest reigning Monarch
2015 Rugby World Cup, hosted by England
24th January 1965 Death of Winston Churchill
14th August 1945 VE Day - end of World War II
1940 Battle of Britain
18th June 1815 Battle of Waterloo
1815 Humphry Davy invents the Davy lamp
7th May 1765 Launch of HMS Victory
25th October 1415 Battle of Agincourt
1265 Last striking of the Gold Penny
15th June 1215 Signing of Magna Carta

2016

3rd Saturday in June 2016 90th Birthday of the Queen
1966 England wins the World Cup
13th September 1916 Birth of Roald Dahl
21st September 1866 Birth of H G Wells
21st April 1816 Birth of Charlotte Bronte
1816 Britain adopts the Gold Standard
2nd to 5th September 1666 Great Fire of London
23rd April 1616 Death of William Shakespeare
14th October 1066 Battle of Hastings
1016 Accession of Canute

2017

20th November 2017 Queen and Prince Phillip's Platinum wedding anniversary
11th December 1967 Concorde unveiled
4th June 1917 Establishment of the Order of the British Empire
1867 Second Reform Act doubles the electorate, enfranchising many urban working men; Benjamin Disraeli's ‘leap into the dark'
1867 Joseph Lister performs first operation using an antiseptic
1867 Thomas Barnardo opens his first shelter for homeless children
1817 Introduction of the modern sovereign, bearing Pistrucci's design of St George and the dragon
1817 Death of Jane Austen
1667 Publication of Paradise Lost

not looking like a positive year 2017.

2018

14th November 2018 70th Birthday of the Prince of Wales
23rd April 1968 Decimal 5p and 10p coins introduced in the run-up to decimalisation
1918 Representation of the People Act gives women the vote
1st April 1918 Formation of the Royal Air Force
1868 First Trades Union Congress is held in Manchester
30th July 1818 Birth of Emily Bronte
1768 James Cook departs Plymouth on this first voyage of discovery
1768 Foundation of Royal Academy, with Joshua Reynolds as its first President
1768 First of the weekly numbers of the Encyclopaedia Britannica are published in Edinburgh
1618 Execution of Walter Raleigh

2013 is the 30th anniversary of the decimal £1 coin.
How interesting do you think this is as a theme for a commemorative £1 coin for 2013?

Beyond 2013, The Royal Mint will issue four £1 coins for each year - one for each region of the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Which of the following themes are of the most interest to you?

National flowers
Historic buildings
Government buildings
Royal Palaces
Wildlife
Highest peaks

If these £1 coins were designed by a public competition each year, how interesting would this be to you?

Thank you very much for completing the survey.
You have now qualified for free UK standard P&P on your next purchase from The Royal Mint if placed by 26th February 2012.

Is this an open invitation to all of us?

I'm afraid I need more clues to decipher that.

I doubt it, the 50p thing was open the British people and residents.

it asks you how interested you'd be in each one, 10 being the highest interest and 1 the lowest, so I put 10 WW1!

Got it, so 7 for the Commonwealth Games, 3 for Dylan Thomas ...

Does that mean you'll be submitting patterns for WW1 coin? Or first you have to be picked? Or they don't want you to create one, just would like to know if you wish to see a coin made?
... I guess I didn't exactly got it.

I think WW1 is the most important event out of those for a coin. I think it should be on a 50p. The commonwealth games should probably get a 2 pound and dylan can get one of the welsh coins, seeing as I've never read anything he wrote and only know about the milk chocolate thing he did, or was it milk wood? Can't taste that good, TV chefs huh?

The proposal for the public design was the one pound series, so all the other coin designs will go to graphic designers like Dent, or perhaps the more sculpture based, put a little relief in it designers. But if they do open it up to the public I'll enter, I thought about the mountain series today, and realised how boring that could be, seeing as hardly anyone will be able to recognise the shape of Ben Nevis, let alone whatever mountain or hill is highest in NI!

I can't think of a theme more important than the centennial commemoration of the First World War.
The British Empire lost 1M+ dead and 2M+ wounded, and it's a war fading from the modern consciousness.

Hi Augsburger, would you mind editing the top part of your post? I believe we want to reveal these themes only to the original survey group as far as possible!

If you would like to be included in the survey in any way, and are not already part of it...get in touch with me on here and I'll see what I can do :)

Thanks,
James
