I suspect it's a strong die clash.
AUSTRALIA and the date clashed against the top obverse legend and KGVI.

stamped with the other coin and then re stamped to get the normal obverse over the top of the brokerage? still very nice to have.
speaking with the bus driver today he might also have one, except he said his has been flattened out a bit so it could be just PMD. he is going to bring it next week so I hope to have a look at least.

Looks to me like strong die clash. A bit pricey though for sale at $85.

Brockages have no trace whatsoever of the opposite side, because the die for the opposite side has been replaced with the coin that caused the brockage. See this page for some British brockages.

Agree with the die clash. At least it's a genuine "mint error", and not a vise job.

Definitely a brockage in some sense, but likely an extremely strong die clash as DVCollector mentioned.

I have looked at this coin & the seller is not budging on the price. It would look good next to my brockages.

I have a couple broadstrike brockages which are rather odd. Have a look at my avatar picture.
