I just started collect coins about a month ago. I have a whole box of 1964 and previous quarters. I started going through my buckets of pennies and I discovered this 2005 penny. It's very strange the rim is wider and the overlap seems smoother. The L from the word liberty appears to have been stamped off in some ways it looks fake, but who would make a fake penny for pocket change?
The lip on this is wider than any of my other pennies.
Whats your thoughts guys. I took the pic under a magnify glass.

or as John1 said, maybe a Dryer Coin.

Is the coin wide or narrow compared to a normal cent?

If you don't know what they are refering to when they say Dryer Coin, it means a coin that has spent time in a dryer, the edge getting beaten on so it bulges out as the coin gets smaller in diameter.

Oh well I thought I had something. My wife works at a check cashing store and she checks just about every coin that passes through the place.
