So I was just at my father in law's house and they started talking about inheritance for some reason. Anyways they said my wife and I would get an awesome coin collection. They didn't mention anything really but they did mention the 3 coins I have in this title, as well as all the other lincoln cents. Wow, wonder what else they have. In the past I heard them talk about lot's of Barber coinage. Inheritance won't be for a long time, I'm only 23, but it's nice to know they have something cool. lol. That will be such a cool thing to go through.

Have any of you inherited any cool coins?

Well not inherited, because I'm only 15, but my grandmother used to work as a bank teller, and someday some lady brought in $75 face vslue of silver dimes, she knows I collect coins, so if I work for her, or did something good, she'll give me a couple of those, now every weekend before the local coin show, I always offer to buy them off of her, she's tough minded, but my grandfather isn't, he just wants to get it out of their safe

I've told this story before, but yes, an "inheritance" is what started me collecting. This consisted of several boxes of what my mother-in-law described as "Old Money" that was to go to my wife and I when she passed.

An inheritance from my grandparents was what got me into collecting, that and being informed a bit by my uncle who more about coins than I did. After that I didnt need his help anymore to be interested in coins!

I was interested in numismatics for many many years as my grandfather (the real numismatist in the family) had been giving my sister and I sets every Christmas since 1986. However, we lost him last year and when I inherited some of his coins that's what solidified my interest to try and pick it up seriously as part of his legacy.

Where most of his coins were unfortunately sold for estate purposes, I inherited a collection of Indian Head cents, Three Cent Nickels, and various silver coins that he thought were odd, obscure, or interesting (which they certainly were!). As a trained librarian it was a rather natural thing to take on, and now I share it with my two daughters.
